There are many
different types of colon therapy systems on which students can be
trained. There are open and closed systems. Each system falls
into the category of either a Class I or Class II device.
CLASS I SYSTEM (Non-Prescription)
Requirements for Purchase:
1. You must be trained on the system.
2. You must be a certified colon hydrotherapist.
CLASS II SYSTEM (Prescription Needed)
Requirements for Purchase:
1. You must be trained on the system.
2. You need to be under the supervision of a medical director.
3. You need to have a prescription to order the colonic system
and/or rectal nozzles.
Definitions:
Closed system - therapist must help the client insert the
nozzle, the therapist controls the flow of the water and instructs
the client on when to hold and release the water.
Open system - the clients inserts the nozzle themselves, the
nozzle is about the size of a pencil, the client controls how long
they hold the water and when they release it.
Class I device - this is a non-medical device and doesn't
require the colon therapist to work with a medical doctor.
Class II device - this is a medical device and requires the
colon therapist to work with a medical doctor.
